Lloyd Jones is an exhilarating performer and a huge crowd pleaser. His music and its presentation are called “electrifying and unleashed”. His songs and their renditions have a unique quality that gives them a sound like they have been around for years as blues standards or have fallen out of a time warp from the golden days of R&B. His music is in a distinctive style that is some of the funkiest
horn-rhythm-organ arrangements. His guitar approach is both economical and
rhythmically sophisticated in a style that is delicate and devastating.
His presentation of music is captivating and beguiling. It integrates
sounds assured to set an audience to get up and start dancing on the
grass. |
| Jones describes his music, as soulful, an intelligent infusion of funk, blues and R&B as story-telling with a Memphis groove. Experience Lloyd Jones live at the Philomath Blues ‘n Jazz Jam and you’ll know why he’s “Gotcha”! | |

Jerry Zybach and the Stage Hogs will perform at
Philomath’s Blues ‘n Jazz Jam August 15 at Mary’s River Park.
The Stage Hogs are a mix of four seasoned musicians who form a
high-energy, versatile, unbelievable tight blues band. The high competence
of these performers shows the excitement that can happen when four
extremely talented, and unselfish performers get together. A magic happens
at Philomath’s Blues :n Jazz Jam! |
| Their play list is limitless,
ranging from old standards to modern blues and the world in-between. Each
member has individual musical proficiency with styles of music that it
affords them the confidence to step out of their personal comfort zones,
play off one another while pushing back the limits. Classically trained, Jerry Zybach’s big, rich voice will surprise the audience. He has developed his own style. His range, depth and versatility, gives the heart and soul that thunders with the sheer volume. When he belts our renditions of classic like “Don’t Touch Me Baby,” you know the meaning of the term “Blue Eyed Soul”. He carries a worn travel full case of original songs inspired by many genres, including a simple toe-taper “Daddy Do” ( a song guaranteed to run around in your mind begging ‘Where did I hear that before?”) Listening to his refreshingly haunting songs, “Oh Mary and “Lock and Key”, you’ll wonder, where has this group of talent been hiding? Observe the magical flow between Zybach and Clark as they trade leads on tunes like “Reconsider” and “Boot Hill.” Listening to them, there is nothing average about this band. Musically, they are as tight as a drum. Find their newly recorded CD “StageHogs”, and be set for a musical treat. |

| David Samuel and the Vanilla
Sugar Blues to Perform at the Philomath Blues ‘n Jazz Jam August 15,
2004 The blues has seen a proliferation in the Northwest in the last several years. The Philomath Blues ‘n Jazz Jam has slated David Samuel and his band the Vanilla Sugar Blues to perform their special blend of gentle blues and jazz. Vanilla Sugar’s soul shaking groves and swaying rhythms that move the body and spirit will prove infectious to all in attendance of this event. David Samuel an Albany resident grew up in a family of entertainers. His grandmother played guitar and piano and performed with Sammy Davis Jr. while his songwriter mother sang with the Grammy Award winning composer Andre Crouch. In 1996 Samuel was selected by two modeling agencies and began modeling for Warner Brothers, Nike, Adidas, and Columbia Sportswear doing runway shows, videos and television. During this time, one of the agencies requested a Jimi Hendrix composition to be utilized as a modeling soundtrack. The piece, entitled The Time Has Come went national and was acquired by “Sports Unlimited,” one of the most prominent modeling agencies in the country. During this time another composition, Ashur, was included on the Stevie Ray Vaughn’s tribute album, “Flooding Texas.” While his pursuits keep him busy, however, David Samuel is ready on the quest of the next phase of his career. The phase where his abilities and talents are best utilized live on stage expressing real life- trials and tribulations where his woeful, weeping guitar and honest-to-god lyrics reach out to touch the audience’s heart and soul. His goal is an intimate connection with his audience through a genuine communication of electrifying music.
